Turkish Association for Psychopharmacology Scholarships

DEFINITION

Turkish Association for Psychopharmacology (TAP) establishes a foreign scholarship in the form of financial support, for high caliber scientists who meet institutional requirements, for their scientific and/or observational studies on selected topics. Applications should be submitted to the board of directors of Turkish Association for Psychopharmacology (TAP). Board of Directors (BoD) is the responsible body for the evaluation and adjudication of submissions. BoD is empowered to suspend and abrogate the awarded scholarships. The financial support covers an ad-hoc round-trip flight ticket at economy class, health insurance fee and a monthly fee of 1.500 (one thousand and five hundred) USD. Scholarships can be scheduled up to one year based on the decision of the BoD. First there month’s period scholarships, health insurance and economy class round-trip ticket paid to the eligible person. At the end of first there-month period, the scholar has to submit progress report summarizing the observations and work to the Association BoD. The rest of the scholarship is paid to a scholar by monthly period in condition of submitting the report.

Category I: Young Investigators' Scholarship
  1. Scope: Research fellows in psychiatry, basic medical sciences (pharmacology, physiology, genetics, etc.) and related fields (neuroscience, neuroimaging, experimental psychology, etc.) who has got a length of service exceeding a year young scientists as well as specialists fewer than 40 of age (including Assistant Professors) are eligible to apply.
  2. Applications should be submitted to the BoD of Turkish Association for Psychopharmacology (TAP) in the first six months of every year.
  3. Candidates should comply the below listed specifications and provide under-mentioned documents during application:
    a. Cover letter to the correspondence of BoD of Turkish Association for Psychopharmacology (TAP).
    b. CV and a list of scientific publications
    c. A composition of 1000 to 1500 words written in English, revealing applicant’s opinion on the future of his/hers scientific studies/ researches and his/her desired role in this projection.
    d. A score above 70 in a recognized and valid national certificate of qualification in English (ÜDS, KPDS etc) or above 6.5 in IELS or above 80 in TOEFL or a certificate of qualification in an international Professional exam (USMLE, PLAB, GRE etc) in English.
    e. A duly signed testimonial issued by the actual managing director (immediate manager, department head or dean) of the employing academic institution or a letter of commendation signed by a member of BoD for recommended physicians.
    f. Letter of acceptance issued by the hosting institution
    g. A proof of scientific contribution (minimum with a poster presentation) to at least one international psychopharmacology congresses held by Turkish Association for Psychopharmacology (TAP.
  4. The qualified candidate is nominated and informed; and he is announced in the Award Ceremony section of the first International Psychopharmacology Congress that will be held after his win of scholarship.
Category II: Turkish Association for Psychopharmacology (TAP) Career Improvement Scholarship
  1. Scope: Associate and full Professors above 40 of age who are working on psychiatry, basic medical sciences (pharmacology, physiology, genetics, etc.) and related fields (neuroscience, neuroimaging, experimental psychology, etc.) are eligible to apply. Regardless of the age, the candidate should be highly qualified in science and have remarkable contribution to global scientific literature with his/her research activities. There is no deadline for applications in this category; applications can be submitted at any date through the year.
  2. Candidates should comply the below listed specifications and provide under-mentioned documents during application:
    a. Cover letter to the correspondence of BoD of Turkish Association for Psychopharmacology (TAP).
    b. CV and a list of scientific publications
    c. A composition of 1000 to 1500 words written in English, revealing applicant’s opinion on the future of his/hers scientific studies, psychiatry in general and his/her desired role in this projection
    d. Letter of acceptance issued by the hosting institution
    e. A proof of scientific contribution (minimum with a poster presentation) to at least one international psychopharmacology congresses held by Turkish Association for Psychopharmacology (TAP).
