Dear Colleagues,

TURKISH ASSOCIATION FOR PSYCHOPHARMACOLOGY (TAP)'s 8th International Congress on Psychopharmacology & 4th International Symposium on Child and Adolescent Psychopharmacology (8th ICP - 4th ISCAP) will be held on April 20-24, 2016 in Antalya, Turkey. Turkish Association for Psychopharmacology (TAP) is the premier professional society in the psychopharmacology and neuroscience research in Turkey, the geographical, historical, and cultural center of the region. With our motto “We Mind the Brain”, the TAP is committed to ensuring that advances in the understanding of brain function and human behavior are translated into better psychiatric treatments and enhanced public awareness. TAP’s core purpose is to advance scientific understanding of mental illnesses and to facilitate the communication and collaboration between convergent disciplines of neuroscience and psychopharmacology. To achieve this goal; the TAP organizes scientific meetings, fosters research and teaching, encourages publication of primary data research, scientific journals, books, and provides guidance and information to the public on matters relating to treatment of psychiatric disorders and psychopharmacology.

This year’s congress theme is “Progress in Psychopharmacology: Advanced Diagnostic Systems and Neuroscience-Based Nomenclature”. Standards of care in psychiatry are evolving with new clinical trial data, novel psychotropic medications, innovative brain stimulation therapies, and advanced diagnostic systems. Advanced diagnostic systems (DSM-5 and NIMH’s Research Domain Criteria – RDoC) will use new information from each level to develop a better understanding of how neurobiology codes for and constrains human behavior and cognition. Future diagnostic practices that integrate neuroscience and psychopathology would harness the power of advances in behavioral neuroscience to foster and accelerate progress in understanding mental disorders and developing evidence based prevention and more effective treatment interventions.

The 8th International Congress on Psychopharmacology and 4th International Symposium on Child and Adolescent Psychopharmacology, (8th ICP-4th ISCAP) will provide an opportunity for the attendees to refresh, update, and expand their knowledge in innovative research and challenging domains of psychopharmacology, biological psychiatry, neuroscience, and neuroimaging through contributions from distinguished local and international speakers and enhance their standards of care for the entire spectrum of psychiatric disorders. The Psychopharmacology Congress creates an interactive platform, where all participants are encouraged to ask questions and share their own experiences regarding new clinical trial data and emerging approaches to the challenging cases about difficult to treat/ treatment-resistant cases.

Like our previous congresses, distinguished speakers will share the latest developments in the field through conferences, panels, pair/combined debates, and satellite symposiums. Workshops, meetings with experts, and certification courses will be organized for interested participants. The abstracts of presentations will be published in the specific supplementary issue of Bulletin of Clinical Psychopharmacology, the TAP’s official journal which is indexed in Science Citation Index Expanded (SCI-E). The first three posters chosen by the poster jury will be awarded with the 'TAP Outstanding Research Awards'.

We would like to invite you to take part in the 8th ICP - 4th ISCAP congress. While benefiting from the stimulating scientific sessions at the congress, you may want to take some time to relax and discover all that historical and post-modern Antalya has to offer with brilliant Anatolian cuisine, flamboyant culture, and wonderful sunny weather. We are certain that Antalya will be a magnificent city to host such a high quality meeting, with its more than two thousands year history reflected in monuments, streets, mosques, museums, caves, and with its current post-modern, cosmopolitan and Mediterranean environment.

We look forward to welcoming you to Antalya, Turkey in 2016.

Kindest regards,

8th ICP - 4th ISCAP Organizing Committee
