Turkish Association for Psychopharmacology Membership
Guidelines
The association has two kinds of membership:
I-Full membership:
Full membership is open to specialists in Psychiatry or
Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Neurology and
Pharmacology and to specialists or residents who worked
before or still work in the fields of Basic Medical
Sciences (Physiology, Pharmacology, Genetics, etc.) and
Psychopharmacology.
II-Honorary fellowship:
*Honorary
fellowship may be awarded to individuals who have
International recognition in Psychopharmacology and/or
who have given recognized and continous support to the
association.
*Honorary fellows are unable to elect or be elected.
Application for membership and approval:
I- Full membership
*The candidate meeting the membership requirements
should complete the association’s printed membership
application form which should be then signed by at
least three members endorsing the membership of the
candidate. After paying a membership admission fee,
together with this document showing his/her suitability
for the membership and also with pictures if necessary,
the candidate then will submit to the Executive Board.
*Those living in a foreign country and fulfilling
membership conditions will make their application to
the Executive Board which will approve or reject their
membership.
II- Honorary fellowship
Honorary fellowship is awarded for those nominated and
after approval of the 20% of the members of General
Committee (at the annual meeting) or of the Executive
Board.
Membership advantages:
*Members will receive free of charge Bulletin of Clinical
Psychopharmacology.
*Attend annual meetings etc on a discount rate 50 %
registration fee.
Membership termination and revocation
Membership termination: Members may terminate their
membership whenever they want. Members who want to
terminate their membership will apply to Executive
Committee with a petition or will send their petitions
by guaranteed mail to the address of the Society.
Membership revocation: Due to the change in the
membership conditions, those who became a member during
their residency and left residency for any reason
except getting a specialist degree will be revoked from
membership. Upon their own request, or without their
request, when their condition were recognized and
approved via a formal letter from their own
institution, membership revocation will be executed ex
officio by the Executive Committee. Suspension of
membership, inquiry regulations and General Committee
decision are not applicable to members revoked in that
way.
Dismissal from membership
Circumstances for dismissal
*Members will be dismissed from membership on the
grounds that his/her conduct is against scientific-
professional rules and methods, detrimental to
professional honor and prohibitive to the objectives of
the Society or causing financial damage to the Society.
Those members who do not fulfill membership
responsibilities will be expelled either.
*Dismissal from membership will be valid following the
approval by the General Committee, of the Executive
Committee’s decision of expulsion, based on the results
of an inquiry.
* Those who terminate their membership or are expelled
will receive no refund.
Membership responsibilities
*Each person shall pay admission due during his/her
membership application. Admission due of those whose
membership is rejected will not be refunded.
*Membership due will be paid each year in a single
payment, starting from the day of membership. Those who
are in default of payment of dues after written notice
will be accepted as not fulfilling membership
responsibilities.
*Membership admission due is 20 (twenty) New Turkish
Lira and annual due is 30 (thirty) New Turkish Lira.
*No single member might be obliged to assume
responsibility in the society’s activities. Only the
members of the society’s qualified committees may be
commissioned in line with the objectives of the
society. Commissioning by the qualified body is in
written form. If the member does not inform for his/her
refusal of the duty in 15 days after receiving and
signing commissioning, it will be assumed as he/she
accepted the duty.
