The Turkish Association for Psychopharmacology (TAP)
was founded in 2005, with the general intention of
bringing together those from clinical and experimental
disciplines as well as members of the pharmaceutical
industry involved in the study of psychopharmacology.
To this end the Association arranges scientific
meetings, fosters research and teaching, encourages
publication of researches and provides guidance and
information to the public on matters relevant to
psychopharmacology.
The TAP organizes scientific meetings and symposia
during the course of the year, covering all aspects of
psychopharmacology from basic research to
pharmaceutical development and clinical application. In
recent years the Association has begun to produce a
range of consensual statements on the treatment of
clinical disorders as well as on the investigation of
psychopharmaceutical compounds.
The first National Psychopharmacology Congress was
launched in 14-17th of December 2005 at Istanbul leaded
by the Psychiatry Department of GATA Haydarpasa
Training Hospital and Clinical Psychopharmacology
Bulletin editorial team and by the contributions of the
Department of Medical Pharmacology of GATA Medical
Faculty. We can say that this congress is the
continuation of “Progressions in Clinical
Psychopharmacology- International Symposium” which had
been taken place four times between 1991 and 1998, and
“First Gulhane Psychopharmacology Symposium” set by
Medical Pharmacology Department of GATA Medical Faculty
in 1999.
In June 20-22nd 2007 the TAP will launch the Second
National Congress of Psychopharmacology, where TAP will
promote substantial international contributors to join
at this congress. Because of this reason this congress
will be the first international congress in Turkey in
the psychopharmacology and biology fields.
